My husband, Dave and I were planning a date to our favorite paint your own pottery store, Get Fired Up. Usually we paint something that would look cool around the house, but usually ends up in our kids’ rooms. This time I suggested we paint an item we could actually use – like a serving plate or a fruit bowl. Off I went to their website to confirm their hours.

Images of pottery scrolled by on their banner and I happened to see a pie dish tucked away on the shelf! /squeals with excitement! I wondered, what are the chances they actually would have a pie dish when we got there?

For $31 + tax (paint, firing, glazing included in the price of the piece) I got to paint my very own pie dish in about 2 hours. How many people can say they have a pink AND purple pie dish? After painting it, I thought it needed something, besides a pie in it! I quickly (about 15 minutes of, does this wing/head/leg look too big?) sketched out a pixie to add to the center of the dish to make it extra personal. A few days later we go to pick up our pieces, and in the window of the store was my pie dish!

Now to put this pie dish to some use! Only problem is picking a recipe. At least the holidays are coming up!
