Many years ago, a few months after my first child was born I thought it would be fun to take a cake decorating class. I’d learn decorating skills to make all my kid’s future cake, meet some friends, form life-long friendships, it would be perfect! Turns out, I was one of the youngest in the class and the rest of the class could of been my grandmas. I really tried to find something in common, other than cake or grandbabies.

I got it was a cake decorating class, but oh my the ICING…ALL THE ICING. It was like this in my kitchen at least once or twice a week for about four weeks.  I could not stand this particular buttercream recipe. Bleck, so much shortening in it. Bleck. You HAD to use their recipe, otherwise it wouldn’t work. (I beg to diff now having decorated many a cake, but you know, got to start somewhere!)

I really do encourage people to at least give the classes a try, I took all of them eventually (yeah, more icing, sorry arteries), but I am all about being honest about what you really get into!

The red takes forever, and violet, yeah good luck with that!

Dave would take my class cakes into work the next day for his team/s to enjoy, because you know CAKE (it’s free)! (In case you couldn’t figure out what was under all the icing.) I think eventually everyone got tired of CAKE!

I hope this does not show up on Cake Wrecks, because I really do make some fun cakes (like the Necronomicon Cake)!
