Just before the kids headed back to school I started thinking about their lunches for the upcoming school year. I had one kid that was burnt out on cream cheese and jelly sandwiches, and another that due some orthodontics needs food that can be eaten quickly. That means the less chewy the food, the better. I wondered if LunchBots had any small, leak proof stainless steel containers I could send yogurt or applesauce in a few times a week to get out of the lunch doldrums.

I was sold on the stainless steel, leak proof, BPA free LunchBots rounds in less than thirty seconds. The 8oz ones are nice, even though I only fill it about halfway with yogurt or applesauce. The extra room is nice so the kids (and now my husband) can add some fruit or crackers to mix things up. Their favorite lunch to buy at school is yogurt parfait: Teddy Grahams, gummie bears, and some fruit, but now we can do that on our own!

I let the girls pick their own colors and everyone agreed, but I think one of the kids forgot which color she really picked. This means one will not take the blue container to school at all even though she told me she reaaaaalllly wanted blue! (The other one is stuck with a blue Uno, and a blue Round.)

Here’s some yogurt with a bit of ground flax seed added. This yogurt was Aldi’s Simply Nature Whole Milk Vanilla yogurt , but generally we do unflavored (homemade or store bought) and jazz it up with fruit and some graham cracker pieces. Sometimes I buy a bag of frozen fruit and put a few pieces of fruit in the Lunchbot Condiment containers, because my kids would prefer to mix the fruit in themselves at school. Someday they’ll let me add the fruit at home?

LunchBots 8oz Round

Two zucchini muffins and yogurt with some fruit. Another day we did muffins and applesauce.

Lunchbots for lunch

My food allergy child takes her Lunchbots everywhere, and her friends all recognize her container. This was lunch at a tea party.

Crackers, cheeses, carrots and dressing, and a cream cheese and jelly sandwich (crusts cut).
