We were recently on vacation in Florida and hit the ever popular southern grocey store, Publix, before checking into our hotel. It’s part of our plan of attack when we travel – buy breakfast foods to eat in the room and have food allergy safe snacks on hand for in between meals. We were looking for a couple of our favorite go to’s. Our family loves the crunchy chickpeas by The Good Bean, so when we saw the dried Sea Salt Fava and Peas we knew they’d be a winner.

Don’t they look delicious? Okay, really I was internally running lines from “Silence of Lambs” about fava beans, but seriously they are delicious. They’re high in plant protein and fiber, gluten-free, vegan, non-GMO and Kosher and stave off those hunger pangs in between meals. Eat these shatteringly crisp snacks quick, at least within the first two days. The longer you leave them open the more crunchy they get, and not in a good way. Your mouth will get a work out by day four plus.

I thought we were done shopping at this point, because the only things left were chips, cookies, and trail mix type items with nuts or processed with nut options left. However, my husband’s eye caught these super minimally designed SuperSeedz on the top shelf. Pre-shelled pumpkin seeds…PRE-SHELLED PUMPKIN SEEDS. We’re voracious eaters of sunflower seeds (well, us non-food allergy people), but our food allergy child loooooves pumpkin seeds. Typically the only pumpkin seeds we can eat are the ones I make at home, so this would be a delicious time saver if it worked out. We grabbed a bag of Sea Salt, and  Somewhat Spicy .

The SuperSeedz were delicious for at least a week and tasted good on day seven as they did on day one. When we got home, we searched for the nearest vendor so we could buy or try other varieties. Obviously, Amazon had them, but I discovered a local food allergen friendly store (Naturally Soergels) carried them.

My schedule and the stars aligned and boom, I came home with quite a few more SuperSeedz packages – ranging from sweet to savory, and some on discount! We may have a problem…and that is everyone loves them! We eat them as snacks mostly, but wow they taste amazing on salads, in yogurt,  and in sandwich wraps.

If you want to try pumpkin seeds without the crunchy aggravation, go find these now. They’re nutritious, delicious, easy to eat, and the price can’t be beat for about $5 a bag.
