Chateau Ste Michelle, 2011 Columbia Valley Riesling We love wine in our house and one of the first wines we ever shared was a Riesling back in college. It rarely fails to disappoint and it goes with so many foods we like to cook here like Thai, chicken and pork dishes. Rieslings are our go to for thai food as the sweet and spicy pair well together.

Sometime within the last year, we started trying wines from in/around Washington State. We are continually impressed with this Chateau Ste Michelle Columbia Valley Riesling 2011. Hands down, it is awesome. In my opinion, they’re right up there with Rieslings from Germany in 2000, 2001 and 2006. (Still kicking ourselves for not buying more back in 2001 – SO good.) Get to a wine store today, and buy a few – you may get lucky and find it’s on sale like we did!

A marvelous effort in a difficult year, this textbook Washington Riesling is bursting with apricot and peach goodness. Round and polished, it’s long and textured, with an excellent wash of minerality.
