Pantry RaidIn just over two days my family will close on our next house. As we pick out things to put back into our new home, I’ve been thinking back to my last few days at home when I cleaned out our pantry and spice cabinet.

I filled approximately three large size diaper boxes with salts, oils, herbs, spices and whatever else you can think of from our pantry and spice cabinet. I never realized how frequently I used items like curry powder, fish oil and kosher salt etc. Thankfully our friends Pete and Christey over at Fotocuisine were happy to give all the items a new home. I think Christey baked a few cakes and Pete made some brownies with all the yummy baked goods The Sugar Pixie left them!

Back in Pennsylvania

We’ve been living with my in-laws for about three months. It’s been a give and take experience, as we’ve cooking with the basics. We’ve introduced my father in law to curry – turns out, he LOVES curry powder. He’s been eating it on everything.

I needed to make some cookies, so I bought some kosher salt (recipe called for it.) Explained to my mother in law some things about kosher salt and how we use it. My mother in law is a fabulous cook and baker and it really has been great to have some of the homecooked foods Dave and I indulge in every once in awhile.

Looking forward

Dave and I are looking forward to restocking our pantry and spice cabinet with all the comforts of our home in Florida.  We’re also looking forward to cooking, baking and creating in our new kitchen this weekend!
